Indonesia is making a massive leap toward becoming a global tech powerhouse. Google Cloud, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), has officially launched a specialized initiative called “Google for Startups Accelerator Southeast Asia: Indonesia, AI-Focused.” This program isn't just another incubator; it is a dedicated mission to empower Indonesian-headquartered startups that are leveraging generative AI (gen AI) and agentic AI as their core technologies.

A Legacy of Success in the Startup Ecosystem

Indonesia's startup scene has always been a force to be reckoned with. Historically, Indonesian startups have contributed more than 25% of the total participants in Google’s regional accelerator programs. To date, 57 local startups—including household names like Gojek, NOICE, Aruna, Sekolah.mu, and Kata.ai—have successfully graduated from these programs. The influence of Google Cloud is even more evident when looking at the top tier of the ecosystem, where nearly 70 percent of Indonesia’s unicorns have built their innovative solutions on Google Cloud infrastructure.

The Trillion-Rupiah Economic Opportunity

Beyond just building apps, this collaboration is about unlocking massive economic value. Fanly Tanto, Country Director of Google Cloud Indonesia, cited research from Public First showing that if local startups and small businesses effectively utilize Google Cloud’s services—including data analytics and AI—they could generate an economic value of approximately Rp 990 trillion by 2030.

As part of the broader “Bangkit Bersama AI” (Rising Together with AI) initiative, the “Indonesia, AI-Focused” program aims to develop 100 high-potential AI startups over the next five years. This long-term commitment highlights Google’s confidence in Indonesia's digital talent and its potential to lead the AI revolution in the region.

Aligning with the Indonesia Emas 2045 Vision

Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid expressed deep appreciation for Google’s decade-long support of the local ecosystem. She emphasized that this partnership is a critical step toward the “Indonesia Emas 2045” vision, where technology acts as the primary engine for equitable and sustainable economic growth.

According to Meutya, this public-private collaboration provides startups with access to world-class technology and training. The goal is to create AI-based innovations that solve real-world problems in vital sectors such as education, healthcare, finance, agriculture, smart cities, environmental sustainability, and social services. By empowering the youth to become part of future solutions, Indonesia aims to strengthen its standing on the international stage.

What the Program Offers: More Than Just Mentorship

The program is currently opening registration for its first batch of 20 startups. This three-month program, set to begin in September 2025, is entirely equity-free, meaning founders do not have to give up any ownership in their companies. Selected participants will receive a comprehensive suite of resources to accelerate their development, including:

Financial and Technical Support

Graduates of the program can receive up to USD 350,000 in Google Cloud credits, providing the financial runway needed to scale heavy AI workloads. Furthermore, they gain full access to Google Cloud’s integrated AI technology stack, which is specifically engineered to handle the complex requirements of modern AI innovation.

Knowledge and Networking

The collaboration includes specialized workshops hosted at Komdigi’s Digital Innovation Hub, designed to equip teams with the technical skills to master the Google Cloud AI stack. Mentorship will be provided by experts from Google Cloud, Google Play, Android, and Google Ads, alongside Komdigi’s “Founders Meet Experts” program.

Furthermore, startups will have the chance to connect with a powerful network of ecosystem partners, including Alpha JWC Ventures, Cocoon Capital, DANA Indonesia, HACKTIV8, Monk's Hill Ventures, and Oddbit. The program culminates in a Demo Day, where founders can showcase their AI products to potential investors, paving the way for the next generation of Indonesian tech giants.
