Centratama and Surge Form Strategic Alliance to Revolutionize Indonesia's Internet Landscape

Indonesia’s digital infrastructure landscape is witnessing a significant shift as two major players join forces to bridge the connectivity gap across the archipelago. PT Centratama Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (CENT), a subsidiary of the regional powerhouse EdgePoint Infrastructure, has officially signed a strategic partnership with PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (Surge/WIFI). This collaboration is designed to optimize telecommunications infrastructure and services, ensuring that high-quality internet access reaches even the most remote corners of Indonesia.

This partnership is more than just a business agreement; it is a calculated move to harmonize the strengths of two industry leaders. By integrating their resources, both companies aim to enhance the quality of connectivity for millions of Indonesians, supporting the government's ambitious national digital transformation agenda.

Technical Synergy: Co-location and Fiber Optics

At the heart of this agreement is a technical synergy that leverages existing assets for maximum efficiency. Surge is set to utilize Centratama’s extensive co-location services and fiber optic network to bolster its Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) offerings. This technical integration allows for a more robust and scalable deployment of internet services.

Beyond simple hardware sharing, the collaboration extends to deeper technical layers. It includes the implementation of local loop connections to Network Access Points (NAP), the provision of broad internet access, IP transit services, and various supporting content services. This multi-layered approach ensures that the backbone of Indonesia’s internet becomes more resilient and capable of handling increasing data demands.

A Vision for National Digital Transformation

During the signing ceremony, which was attended by Raymond Yan (CEO of Centratama), Jacopo Rigamonti (CCSO of Centratama), and Yune Marketatmo (CEO of Surge), the leadership team emphasized the long-term impact of this alliance. Raymond Yan highlighted that this collaboration is a core part of Centratama’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s digital foundation.

"This collaboration represents our commitment to reinforcing Indonesia's digital infrastructure and expanding internet access for everyone," Raymond Yan stated. He further noted that Centratama is dedicated to providing reliable and scalable solutions that align with the national agenda. By combining their wide-reaching infrastructure with Surge’s broadband expertise, the goal is to create a connected digital Indonesia where every citizen has an equal opportunity to thrive in the digital age.

Empowering Communities Through Connectivity

For Surge, the partnership represents a mission that goes beyond technical metrics. Yune Marketatmo, CEO of Surge, articulated a vision where technology serves as a tool for social and economic empowerment. He believes that building a network is essentially about building the future of the nation.

"We believe that progress is achieved when technology empowers the community," Yune explained. He emphasized that this infrastructure is vital for students to learn without barriers, for shop owners to reach wider markets, for clinics to provide better healthcare, and for small entrepreneurs to scale their businesses. The ultimate goal is to provide the digital essentials that have become a necessity for modern Indonesian life.

Scaling the Digital Backbone

This partnership is backed by formidable physical assets. EdgePoint Infrastructure currently operates over 16,000 tower sites across Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with Centratama managing approximately 11,000 of those towers in Indonesia alone. This massive footprint serves as the perfect launchpad for Surge’s ecosystem, which includes fiber networks, broadband, FTTH (Fiber to the Home), and edge data centers.

By integrating these tower networks with Surge’s digital ecosystem, the collaboration aims to accelerate the development of a digital foundation that supports education, healthcare, and economic growth from the main island of Java to the furthest reaches of the country. This initiative aligns perfectly with the "Internet for the People" mission, turning connectivity into prosperity and providing the millions of stakeholders in Indonesia with sustainable value.
