SMK Sandikta and UBSI Partner to Deliver Professional Mikrotik Networking Workshop for Students

In an era where digital connectivity is the backbone of every industry, technical proficiency in networking has become a non-negotiable skill for vocational students. Recognizing this need, SMK Sandikta recently took a proactive step by hosting a Creative Digital Workshop titled "Exploring the World of Networks: A Deep Dive into Mikrotik." This initiative was held in collaboration with Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI), an institution widely recognized as a Creative Digital Campus, on Friday, May 23.

The workshop was specifically designed for over 50 students from the 12th grade, specializing in Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ). As these students prepare to transition from the classroom to the professional world, the event served as a critical touchpoint to align their academic knowledge with current industry standards. By focusing on Mikrotik—a staple hardware and software provider in the global networking landscape—the workshop aimed to provide a competitive edge to these future IT professionals.

Mastering the Industry Standard: Why Mikrotik Matters

To ensure the highest quality of instruction, the event featured Rian Septian Anwar, an experienced networking practitioner, as the keynote speaker. Guided by Sindi as the host, the session moved quickly from conceptual frameworks to practical applications. Mikrotik devices are known for their versatility and cost-effectiveness, making them the go-to solution for many internet service providers and corporate IT departments.

During the workshop, students were guided through an intensive curriculum that covered the essentials of networking. This included a thorough introduction to the Mikrotik interface, followed by more complex topics such as routing and bridging concepts, IP Address configuration, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), and NAT (Network Address Translation). Beyond just setup, Rian also shared invaluable troubleshooting tips—knowledge that is often only acquired through years of field experience.

Expert Insights on the Digital Job Market

Rian Septian Anwar emphasized that mastering Mikrotik is not just a secondary skill but a primary asset in today's digital economy. He noted that the demand for network engineers who can navigate Mikrotik environments remains high across various industrial sectors.

“Mikrotik expertise is incredibly vital and highly sought after in the industrial world,” Rian explained in a press release on Saturday, May 24. “We designed this workshop to be more than just theory. It’s about hands-on practice so that students truly understand the mechanics and can immediately apply this knowledge in a real working environment.”

A New Approach to Learning: Theory Meets Case Studies

Breaking away from traditional classroom constraints, the workshop was held in the SMK Sandikta Hall. The inclusive room layout was intentionally designed to foster better discussion and active interaction between the speaker and the participants. The pedagogical approach was multi-layered: it began with foundational theories and escalated into solving real-world case studies.

Students were encouraged to work in groups, a method that simulated a professional team environment. This approach did more than just sharpen their technical logic; it cultivated essential soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and collaborative problem-solving. By facing actual networking scenarios, students were forced to think critically rather than just following a manual.

Building Confidence for the Future

The impact of the workshop was immediately visible in the students' morale. Many participants reported a significant boost in confidence regarding their ability to configure and manage network systems. This newfound competence is particularly crucial as they approach their Vocational Competency Examination (UKK) and Field Work Practice (PKL).

One student shared their enthusiasm, stating, “I used to be hesitant even to touch a Mikrotik device. Now, I can configure it myself and actually understand the reasoning behind every setting. This workshop has truly broadened my horizons.”

Ultimately, "Exploring the World of Networks" was more than just an educational seminar; it acted as a bridge connecting the theoretical world of school with the practical realities of the tech industry. SMK Sandikta has once again demonstrated its commitment to producing job-ready graduates by providing deep, relevant training. The hope is that such collaborations with higher education institutions like UBSI will continue to flourish, nurturing superior digital talent ready to compete in the global market.
