Empowering Communities: How Srikandi PLN is Honoring Kartini Day Through Meaningful Social Action

Commemorating Kartini Day has always been about honoring the spirit of empowerment and social progress. This year, the women of PLN—known as Srikandi PLN—from the Kuala Kapuas Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) took this legacy to heart. In a powerful collaboration with the PLN Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM), they launched a social initiative aimed at providing direct humanitarian aid to those in need, proving that their role extends far beyond maintaining the power grid.

A Legacy of Care in Central Kalimantan

The event, aptly themed "Kartini's Spirit: Spreading Benefits, Strengthening Others," took place on Tuesday, April 21st, at the Selat Utara Village Office in Kuala Kapuas, Central Kalimantan. The atmosphere was one of solidarity as the Srikandi PLN team met with local residents to distribute essential aid. A total of 26 heads of households received assistance designed to help alleviate the pressures of daily living costs, marking a significant moment of communal support.

Local Government Applauds the Initiative

The impact of this gesture was deeply felt by local officials. Arief Rakhman, S.T., the Secretary of Selat Utara Village, expressed his sincere gratitude for the initiative. He noted that such actions are more than just corporate charity; they are a lifeline for many families in his jurisdiction. According to Arief, the presence of the Srikandi PLN team brought a palpable sense of hope and relief to the community, helping to lighten the economic burden on the recipients.

Beyond the material help, Arief emphasized that the arrival of Srikandi PLN and YBM brought a spirit of togetherness. He hopes that this assistance will not only serve as a temporary fix but also as a source of motivation for the residents to remain resilient and keep moving forward despite their challenges.

More Than Just Electricity

Supporting this initiative from the top level, Iwan Soelistijono, General Manager of PLN UID South and Central Kalimantan, reiterated the company's commitment to social welfare. In a written statement, he emphasized that PLN is fully behind the Srikandi and YBM programs. He believes that being present in the community during times of need is a core part of PLN's organizational identity.

Iwan highlighted a crucial philosophy: PLN's mission isn't limited to providing a reliable supply of electricity. It is about bringing the "energy of kindness" to the public. By integrating social programs that touch lives directly, the company aims to create a sustainable positive impact that goes hand-in-hand with their technical operations.

A Cycle of Goodness

This social action also serves as a reminder of the philanthropic structure within PLN. Much of the aid distributed through YBM PLN comes from the zakat (alms) contributed by PLN employees. This creates a beautiful cycle of giving where the professional success of the staff translates directly into humanitarian support for the less fortunate. As the event concluded, there was a collective hope that these efforts would not only provide immediate relief but also serve as a lasting blessing for the contributors and a pillar of strength for the Kuala Kapuas community.
